Belly Baring

I’m cleansing you guys – because it’s Summertime and baring your midriff is big this season.
I scoured the Internet until I found a doable detox program and the Four Elements Cleanse seems doable. I’ll eat high fiber fruits, veggies and grains and drink a mixture of apple cider vinegar, lemon juice and cayenne pepper for the next 7-10 days. Easy peasy. Except I make everything extra difficult for myself. I overindulged this weekend so I’m starting off puffier than usual and craving a Fritter like a mofo.

It’s been three hours. I have a headache. I want a cup of coffee. I’m gagging over the detox drink. I’ll let you know how I’m feeling in a few days. Happy Monday!

This detox drink better start tasting like a jalapeño martini soon…

Monday Hair….*

Most mornings I wake up with a messy, not- so- cute – mop on top of my head and wonder ‘what the eff am I going to do with my hair?’ Aggressively hitting snooze for the first hour might be my first problem, however beauty sleep is cardinal so I snooze it out. Thank god for bobby pins and a few of my trusty hair products that tame my tresses and assist with getting my ass heels out the door on time.

I like Monday hair, better known as Saturday evening leftovers.  It’s the lovely barrel curls or silky sleek blow out you took so much time to do on Saturday that gets you right into Monday. Unwashed hair is so much easier to work with when you’re throwing it up or trying to get that messy bun or pony look, the perfect Monday no fuss hair.

Being a ‘hair down’ type a girl I have to be creative and find ways to mix it up and be the opposite of boring. Today I had great Monday hair, I swept my caramel locks off my face, added a little volume and out the door I went!.
When there’s no time to wrap sections around a barrel iron or spend an hour on a sleek blow out give yourself a top knot, pin it back in a messy bun or rock a fun pony, you could be really audacious and throw on a head band….

My top products for the looks above:

1. Re Shaper by Sebastian Professional –  strong-lasting, re-shapable spray.

2. Texture Touch by Wella Professional – Reworkable Clay that you can work your style and re shape. Defines, separates and builds volume.
Start by melting a small amount across your fingertips, then sculpt into dry hair.

3. Simmer Delights by Wella Professional – mist on finished hair for a shiny appearance and enhance your style.
If you think there’s nothing you can do with your hair, it’s all in your head!
And there you have it, Monday Hair….*
Happy first day of five!

The Power of Three

I have two fabulous sisters, and there is one thing I can count on when hanging out with them, laughter. And not just giggles here and there, but the kind of laughter that leaves tears in your eyes and sore abs. This weekend I got to hang out with my lovely sister Meme La Rue , it was nothing short of the usual pursuit of fun, shopping, sipping wine, ‘getting ready’, then hitting the town.

It’s always a ball getting ready to go out together. Normally it begins putting our hair in rollers alongside some cocktails. The bevies lead us to mini runway shows, where we strut our stuff down the hallway to the bumpin beats of Gaga or Rihanna, our usual anthems. And for the final touches we share the mirror and load up our lashes with Dior Show . It’s overly girly and I love it!

Our fashion has evolved over the years, naturally, and we each have our own personal style. The three of us have long-established a certain mode that defines who we are, fashionably speaking. I’m the overdressed one that wears heels any opportunity I get, My sisters think my style at times resembles that of a Golden Girl, whatever, I love gaudy accessories and oversized blouses. Michelle (aka meme la rue) is the modern boho who posses this I- just- came- from-breakfast- in- Bali look, with her long wavy blonde hair and an arm full of candy she knows how to mix high and low. And last is Chantelle  she’s the youngest one, her surfer meets prep girl west coast style suggests she just walked off a Billabong photo shoot, she even makes the Cali girls jelly. Although we all have different wardrobes we all share one thing, impeccable style, sometimes we even share clothes?

Here are some sisters I’d like to share a closet with….

I don’t know how people go through life without sisters..

Happy Monday..

Hippy Daze

I made it back from our weekend away, barely.  It was a blast, but I’m paying for it now. When we arrived home I decided to turn my house into a rehab facility for food and cocktailing.  Mike and I checked in this morning .  Salad, fresh fruit, fish and San Pellegrino are on the menu for as long as we can take it.

Me donning the boho outfit I daydreamed of for the outdoor music fest was a flop – the rain and 17 degree weather made it hopeless for me to wrap myself in something sheer. I went for my skinnies, a casual tailored military jacket, House of Harlow moccasins  and Mountain Co-op rain poncho (hot!) – thanks Janet!

Our crew of 30 something 905 and 705’ers was the perfect blend for amusement and silliness. So much so that the muddy terrain,  beer tent line ups, rain and cold didn’t drive anyone to bitch?  Not even the 905 dames!   A few notes: Urban Outfitters threw up on 92 percent of the population; mosh pits are not a thing of the past; smoking weed in mosh pits is not a thing of the past; luke warm beer really isn’t so bad; I own 2 pairs of tall classic Hunter Boots and I neglected to wear either; the Hip are talented individuals.

Still rather concerned that I put down 2 poutines and a 24 in 24?  Hideous. I’m out. Tired. Borderline delusional, I feel like I’m in a hippy daze.

I have my Monday evening all planned out, it looks something like this…

Happy Monday

Mojitos and Mondays

This weekend we passed our Saturday at a backyard pool party and bbq, which was graciously hosted at our friends home in a quaint town 20 minutes from where we live — thanks Seyward and Jay! We chilled poolside, got over served on mojitos (thanks again Jay), swined out on lime cupcakes, had a drunken late night dip and partied like sorority girls until dawn. I’d say it was a success!

Sunday was a whole new day, our alfresco affair was fantastic, only I was suffering from a cuban highball comma and found myself cursing the sun wishing I was wrapped in my duvet.  I’m positive I wasn’t the greatest company, but I aspired to be?

Today was back to reality.  Work, gym, laundry, cook, then more work.  I am trying to be more organized so I have devised a “Own my life” list of things I will own throughout the work week.  Here’s my first:

  1. Sugar free – I am giving up sugar for the week, I was on sweet overdrive on the weekend – I’m owning my cravings
  2. Sobriety – I’m having a dry week, I am using the warm weather as an excuse to cocktail every night, it’s criminal. I’m owning sobriety.
  3. Start my bubble chandelier – this requires a post of its own.
  4. Finish all my work for month’s end before month end – and work my little a*s off so I own my vacation.
  5. Buy myself a well deserved pair of shoes – it’s been a few weeks.

Today I was 85% on task for my list. And I was asked to do a very exciting review for a very exciting magazine! It’s been a good Monday. No prescription medication required.

Just one more hour….

Makes me giggle…but so true

Happy Monday
