Sweater Weather

So apparently the formula for fall is as follows: Sweaters, booties, chunky sweaters, layers and ….. Sweaters.

It’s officially sweater weather, basically crawl into the perfect sweater and hibernate under it till spring.

For me sweaters and boots are easy as hell. I love fall.

Comatose

I ate stuffing and mashed potatoes four days in a row. Hence, I am the opposite of sexy, which I think is frumpy right? I long for water and cardio.

I’m still comatose from the long Thanksgiving weekend, so feast your eyes on these lovely fall photos that have me craving a cozy photo shoot with my man.

Sleeping Beauty

Something about the crisp air and fall like temps that make me want to stay under my duvet and work from my home office….

Or maybe build a bed in my office?

Fashions Night Out, Cupcakes and Lipgloss…..

Stylish ladies in five-inch heels hit Lemonberry Boutique last night for Fashion’s Night Out. They were there for deals, cupcakes, the braid bar, social scene and a grab at Lemonberrys signature lipgloss. Love! I did my part at the cupcake table and spent my weekly salary on some amazing pieces. I don’t have any regrets on either indulgences.

This weekend I’m going to try to remember I have hobbies that don’t involve staying out until 2 AM and spending all my money on clothes. I’m going to work on my website, organize my fall wardrobe and take instagram pictures of my organizing skills and lounging and maybe a nap whilst lounging. Oh and exercise. I should probably do some of that too. Thank God it’s Friday right?!

Here’s my FNO in pictures, sorry for my lameness I’m too tired to go into detail.

Fine Wine.

Yes, yes I love my wine. However this post isn’t a guzzle my glass social alcoholic kinda post, it’s a I’m a shopaholic kinda post that supports my thirst for wine colored denim, Bordeaux glazed nails, Merlot lips and deep ruby booties.

I need to work overtime to nourish my wine fixation (both).

You can assume jewel tones will be my Fall uniform. What’s going to be your go-to chilly weather style?

I’m feelin the red wine in so many ways… I think it’s those burgundy booties in the last photo that are really speaking to me.

Happy Weekend: Hot Cocoa & Cozy

This weekend I’m going to try not to stay out till 2am and remember to balance my water to wine ratio. I plan on celebrating the cooler weather rolling in by pulling out my parkas, breaking out my Sorels and matching up the odds and ends of my hats and gloves.

Tonight I’ll be celebrating one of my sassy friends birthday with a bunch of wonderful dames. Tomorrow a few of us are heading to the Local Santa Clause Parade to sip hot cocoa and people watch- I can’t wait get my cheeks all rosy and cozy up in some brazen winter wear and hit the town!

I’m stepping up my outer wear game..

(this is a great look, cocoa faux fur & party pants)

(Might just keep the pants on … at least until I get home!)

(Insert pants here:I love leg warmers, but seriously this girl needs pants)

Happy Friday everyone, I hope you cozy up and take it outside…

Cape Town

November is already in full swing, and fall shopping is still on my brain. Since money doesn’t grow on trees and I should currently be saving for real life (aka marriage, mortgage, new car), I have to curb my fall/winter wardrobe purchases and invest only in key pieces from my want list, such as ‘The Cape’.

Pre – Fall 2010 was the season my love affair with Louis Vuittons black and white graphic cape transpired, it coasted down the runway, I drooled and the rest is lustful history. Talk about needing to get a second career, for that matter a third? I’ve been obsessed with owning this cape – it would be the perfect cloak for cooler temps, along with its famous characteristics I would feel like a descent of Superwoman.  I have a strikingly bright imagination – me wearing the fabulous LV cape rescuing people from reckless wardrobe disasters, fighting fashion one seem at a time?

The LV cape is yet to be mine (yet), so in the mean time my fascination with capes will have to come from other points of supply…The Bay, Club Monaco, Winners or anywhere else that stocks the legendary cover.

Ladies and my 1% gentlemen, The Cape of my dreams…

Looks great on Kate, but it would look really cute on me, belted possibly?

Everything in this image is working.

Cape Town love.

Squared.

It’s no LV, but I’d wear it.

I suddenly feel the urge to go sleeveless, don a cape paired with furry gloves and a major Russian hat! (accredit pic #3)

How to wear a cape:

  • Voluminous cape with simple legs: skinny jeans, fitted trouser nothing bulky or loose on your bottom half.
  • Day to night: Combine your cape with leggings and tall riding boots for a busy day of errands and for evening, choose a plush or fur cape worn over an evening dress for a polished sophistication.
  • Pair it with: skinny jeans, trouser pants, tights, pencils skirts, light knit sweaters.

Costume DIY’ing and Candy Apple Martini’ing…

Happy Trick or Treat day!

I go crazy for costume and theme parties, so this weekend was a screaming success in the dress up department! I had a billion ideas of what I wanted to be for our Spooky girls night out, first it was a Russian Doll, inspired from OPI’s Russian Collection followed by thoughts of a ‘A Real Housewife’, Rachel Zoe ( not frail enough), Kate Middleton (again not skinny enough) and Ophelia.  Last minute I altered my ideas, that’s the Gemini in me, We were off to a jazz club so I fancied looking more glitter & glam. I rummaged through my tickle trunk of past costumes and old dance outfits and decided with all the bits I would be a modern-day flapper girl. With a quick stop at Forever 21 my DIY costume was a hit.

The night was fabulous, we totally overdosed on Candy Apple Martinis, got in a little cardio set on the dance floor and joked about all the slutty *fill in the blank* costumes we witnessed, what happened to Halloween, much like every other holiday it’s lost its center?

Here’s a peek at my DIY Flapper Fabulous costume…

For me it’s all about the hair and make up. I love bold eyelashes, falsies, smooth Hollywood curls, red red lips and painting pretty things on my face!

How I built my costume:

1. Dress from Forever 21 circa 2010, $19.99

2. Necklace Vintage Costume jewelry from the tickle trunk

3. Headband Forever 21, $6.50 (in stores now)

4. MAC Eyelashes and MAC Ruby Woo Lipstick

5. OPI Nails in ‘Color so Hot it Berns’

6. Fishnet Stocking from my hosiery drawer

Clearly doesn’t take a scientist to figure it out…just a little creativity!

The best kind of costumes are the ones you create on your own.

Happy Halloween!

Trick or Treat*….

Whether your weekend is filled with costume parties, carving jack-o’-lanterns, apple bobbing, visiting haunted attractions, sipping cider cocktails or watching horror films, make sure you treat your self to lots of candy and trick someone you love!

I’m dressing up as a Russian doll –  staining my lips blood-red, lining my eyes with falsies, using a big barrel iron to curl my hair and wearing the biggest faux fur hat you’ve ever seen! Can’t wait.

You can find me at a high top sipping caramel apple martinis with my girlfriends….

and maybe dancing on tables!

Happy Spooky Halloween weekend!

She’s got legs…

And she know’s how to use them – but does she know how to cover them up?

As fall slowly turns into winter, wearing skirts and dresses becomes a little bit harder. We now have to factor in the bitter cold, and how we can cover up our stems fashionably and look good while we’re at it. Tights are the perfect solution for this dilemma: they will keep you toasty, make you look stylish, and can totally add a little something to you look.

I work in an industry where skirts and dresses are pretty much my uniform, I can wear pants, it’s just not the same. So when fall and winter come around and I need to cover up my legs I turn to tights.

One of my closest friends Sara, who happens to be one of the most stylish, hip, well put-together ladies I know captained me on my path to tights. I always deemed tights as childish and opted for bare legs, which I know now is only for the warm bronze days of summer. She helped me identify the hip and fashionable elements of tights, and ever since it’s been a calamity. Yes that’s right, a disaster – I spend a whole lot of dolla dollla bills ya’ll on trompe l’oeil, textured, colored and piped hosiery!

There are now two seasons for me, tights and no tights…..

Okay this is an exception, bare legs are a must if your legs look like this – why would you cover them up?

Bad news: bare-leg season is long over. Now the good news: tights just got interesting…
