Weekend Perfection

It’s actually embarrassing how much my life revolves around food and dogs. Good thing I’m secure with myself.

Our weekend was perfectly lazy…Home cooked dinners, a trip to the dog park, a couple naps and two Starbucks runs. I even made The Husband drink a few bottles of wine with me, we sipped vino tinto and crashed early……It was perfection.

Today my task is to find the perfect bed for our little daughter dog Georgia, I’m going to hit the ushe – Winners, Homesense, Target. If I’m feeling really ambitious, I may even try to craft one up myself, check out these clever dog bed ideas I found on Pinterest!

Rock The Boat 2

So I’m taking tomorrow and the weekend offline and I’m giddy as hell about it. Have a glorious weekend and don’t be jelly. My life is rarely this carefree.

Tips for the perfect long weekend holiday:

  • Drink your signature cocktail all weekend – you deserve it!
  • Dress in breezy maxi dresses, anything sheer and havaianas.
  • Go for a natural look, wash hair, tie it in a bun then let it dry naturally – your waves will be killer – thanks Karen for that tip.
  • Create a Long Weekend menu and try a recipe using fresh produce from your local market – I’ll be chefing up cold eggplant stacks drizzled with olive oil and balsamic with fresh basil and love.
  • Enjoy an ice cream in a classic cone.
  • Head north, where the air is cleaner and the stars shine brighter
  • shut down your laptop, even if you stay in the city turn it off – explore your own surroundings and act like a tourist while you’re at it!
  • Own being lazy – if you have a DIY project or gardens you want to work on do it at a slow pace. And if you get distracted by cocktails or friends, who cares enjoy it.
  • Drink your signature cocktail..

Happy long weekend everyone!

This is what my car looked like this week…

This is me tomorrow…

This is what I will be looking at…

I will drown in this before I drown in the lake…

Rock the boat a little!

Happy May long weekend.

All I Want to Wear for Christmas

So lookit. It’s been a long time. I get that you’re probably wondering if I’ve crawled into a cave with Channing Tatum, but the truth is, he’s married. I know you don’t want to hear excuses, but I wrapped up my 7 year corporate career, took some time to smell the hydrangeas, discovered a few new things about myself, and slept. A lot. Or slept-walked through the shoe department at Holt Renfrew, but listen: I’m back.

And I feel amazing.

For those of you that loyally read this mess, it’s true that this time of year makes me giddy as hell. I don’t know if its the pretty little flakes falling outside my window, perhaps its the catchy jingle with Mariah Carey and Jimmy Fallon that’s lighting up my iPod, or the excitement of dressing a little glamorous and wearing sequins and Ruby Woo to all the holiday parties? Whatever it is, can you blame me, It’s such a peaceful, sparkly, cheerful time of year!

As I sit here tapping my sequin slippers to “All I want for Christmas” I want to share with you a little compilation of “All I want to wear for Christmas”. Warning: textured tights, sparkly shoes, sequin trimmed blazer, and gold ahead – might cause rapid heart beat, excessive smiling and holiday fever.

Sometimes you just need to stop and smell the hydrangeas, slip into something sequin and shake your little a*s to some Christmas tunes to get in the spirit.

Fine Wine.

Yes, yes I love my wine. However this post isn’t a guzzle my glass social alcoholic kinda post, it’s a I’m a shopaholic kinda post that supports my thirst for wine colored denim, Bordeaux glazed nails, Merlot lips and deep ruby booties.

I need to work overtime to nourish my wine fixation (both).

You can assume jewel tones will be my Fall uniform. What’s going to be your go-to chilly weather style?

I’m feelin the red wine in so many ways… I think it’s those burgundy booties in the last photo that are really speaking to me.

‘Hey There Santa’

‘Yo Santa….If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been working really hard at my career, my blog, writing, freelancing??… so maybe you could slip a little something nice under the tree? If red souls or Jimmy Choos are out of your price range I’d settle for cashmere anything? Or a Rudsak jacket with fur? Just sayin’.

Last week I was on set with the talented and lovely Danielle Bourjeaurd styling her new Christmas video ‘Hey There Santa’, in addition to working I also got to strut my stuff alongside Miss Bourjeaurd in the video – it was a blast being behind the camera, which you will see when you watch it!

So this weekend I’m getting in the Holiday spirit, I’m going to throw on my new favorite Christmas jingle, dance my as* off around the house decorating in shades of cream and gold and sip eggnog avec rum…..

Cheers to getting in the holiday spirit, and a little tipsy!

Check out the video and download the song at www.daniellebourjeaud.com, a dollar from each purchase goes to the Salvation Army – spread some holiday cheer peeps!

Happy (dance your as* off decorating around the house) Weekend!

Costume DIY’ing and Candy Apple Martini’ing…

Happy Trick or Treat day!

I go crazy for costume and theme parties, so this weekend was a screaming success in the dress up department! I had a billion ideas of what I wanted to be for our Spooky girls night out, first it was a Russian Doll, inspired from OPI’s Russian Collection followed by thoughts of a ‘A Real Housewife’, Rachel Zoe ( not frail enough), Kate Middleton (again not skinny enough) and Ophelia.  Last minute I altered my ideas, that’s the Gemini in me, We were off to a jazz club so I fancied looking more glitter & glam. I rummaged through my tickle trunk of past costumes and old dance outfits and decided with all the bits I would be a modern-day flapper girl. With a quick stop at Forever 21 my DIY costume was a hit.

The night was fabulous, we totally overdosed on Candy Apple Martinis, got in a little cardio set on the dance floor and joked about all the slutty *fill in the blank* costumes we witnessed, what happened to Halloween, much like every other holiday it’s lost its center?

Here’s a peek at my DIY Flapper Fabulous costume…

For me it’s all about the hair and make up. I love bold eyelashes, falsies, smooth Hollywood curls, red red lips and painting pretty things on my face!

How I built my costume:

1. Dress from Forever 21 circa 2010, $19.99

2. Necklace Vintage Costume jewelry from the tickle trunk

3. Headband Forever 21, $6.50 (in stores now)

4. MAC Eyelashes and MAC Ruby Woo Lipstick

5. OPI Nails in ‘Color so Hot it Berns’

6. Fishnet Stocking from my hosiery drawer

Clearly doesn’t take a scientist to figure it out…just a little creativity!

The best kind of costumes are the ones you create on your own.

Happy Halloween!

Must Have Mondays: Signature Cocktail

Every woman should have a signature cocktail, it’s as important as having your own perfume.

Barring any type of society that requires a dozen steps, every age appropriate girl should have a cocktail of choice.  Shaken, stirred, red, white, on le rocks, lager or cider –  knowing what you want spares you from seeming indecisive or fumbling when your asked what you’d like to drink.

Take the time to figure out what you like, not what others around you are longing for.  Your taste, you style of drink and how it is prepared has much to do with who you are and what you enjoy.  Personal style goes above what we wear…

My friends all know I’m a rouge drinker, I love my wine. They are also aware that I’m a wine snob, I only like good quality wine and I know what I want on every occasion.  BUT, but when summer rolls around my game changes.  I crave something more refreshing.

My drink of choice for the warmer months?  White wine spritzer.  Tall narrow glass, filled with ice garnished with fresh citrus.  Here’s how its done:

  • Tall pilsner glass or white wine stem
  • Pinot grigio or Presecco
  • Lots of crushed ice
  • A splash of Fresca
  • Shot of soda
  • And sliced lemon or lime

Can you say posh.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the classic Shandie, Margarita or Heineken but those are timeless and always available. Find your cocktail.

Let’s bring back 5 o’clock cocktail time!

Happy hour Monday everyone!
