Belly Baring

I’m cleansing you guys – because it’s Summertime and baring your midriff is big this season.
I scoured the Internet until I found a doable detox program and the Four Elements Cleanse seems doable. I’ll eat high fiber fruits, veggies and grains and drink a mixture of apple cider vinegar, lemon juice and cayenne pepper for the next 7-10 days. Easy peasy. Except I make everything extra difficult for myself. I overindulged this weekend so I’m starting off puffier than usual and craving a Fritter like a mofo.

It’s been three hours. I have a headache. I want a cup of coffee. I’m gagging over the detox drink. I’ll let you know how I’m feeling in a few days. Happy Monday!

Scruffy.

Beard maintenance is a thing now, you guys. I was recently made aware that the coolest men are conditioning their facial hair with special made-for-beard products. Because I aim to be cool, I am immediately going to purchased some Wild Man beard conditioner for My guy. I want him to smells like he was hit in the face by a lumberjack with an almond-tainted rosemary bush. There’s nothing sexier than a man who smells like a spa!

All I Want to Wear for Christmas

So lookit. It’s been a long time. I get that you’re probably wondering if I’ve crawled into a cave with Channing Tatum, but the truth is, he’s married. I know you don’t want to hear excuses, but I wrapped up my 7 year corporate career, took some time to smell the hydrangeas, discovered a few new things about myself, and slept. A lot. Or slept-walked through the shoe department at Holt Renfrew, but listen: I’m back.

And I feel amazing.

For those of you that loyally read this mess, it’s true that this time of year makes me giddy as hell. I don’t know if its the pretty little flakes falling outside my window, perhaps its the catchy jingle with Mariah Carey and Jimmy Fallon that’s lighting up my iPod, or the excitement of dressing a little glamorous and wearing sequins and Ruby Woo to all the holiday parties? Whatever it is, can you blame me, It’s such a peaceful, sparkly, cheerful time of year!

As I sit here tapping my sequin slippers to “All I want for Christmas” I want to share with you a little compilation of “All I want to wear for Christmas”. Warning: textured tights, sparkly shoes, sequin trimmed blazer, and gold ahead – might cause rapid heart beat, excessive smiling and holiday fever.

Sometimes you just need to stop and smell the hydrangeas, slip into something sequin and shake your little a*s to some Christmas tunes to get in the spirit.

Comatose

I ate stuffing and mashed potatoes four days in a row. Hence, I am the opposite of sexy, which I think is frumpy right? I long for water and cardio.

I’m still comatose from the long Thanksgiving weekend, so feast your eyes on these lovely fall photos that have me craving a cozy photo shoot with my man.

Fashions Night Out, Cupcakes and Lipgloss…..

Stylish ladies in five-inch heels hit Lemonberry Boutique last night for Fashion’s Night Out. They were there for deals, cupcakes, the braid bar, social scene and a grab at Lemonberrys signature lipgloss. Love! I did my part at the cupcake table and spent my weekly salary on some amazing pieces. I don’t have any regrets on either indulgences.

This weekend I’m going to try to remember I have hobbies that don’t involve staying out until 2 AM and spending all my money on clothes. I’m going to work on my website, organize my fall wardrobe and take instagram pictures of my organizing skills and lounging and maybe a nap whilst lounging. Oh and exercise. I should probably do some of that too. Thank God it’s Friday right?!

Here’s my FNO in pictures, sorry for my lameness I’m too tired to go into detail.

Putting On The Glitz

First off, I hope everyone stays bundled up for their winter party hopping over the next few weekends/weeks. Second, I hope you take the time to put on a little glitz! This time of year it’s okay to be overdone anytime you walk into a room, after all, you probably just came from a holiday soiree or are on route to the next one! (or at least that’s what you could say?)

Find your perfect shade of red lipstick and pair it with cat eyes and an Adele style teased chignon, or try sleek waves and a dramatic side part with one side tucked behind your ear. Pull out your chandelier earrings, stick something in your hair, wear anything sequin, go with a cocktail  party dress or whatever you have that’s fur and lace – and just go with it. Have a ball, make yourself feel glitzy and if anyone has something to say about it tell them to ‘fa la la la’ themselves!

Lace…

Red Lips…

Side Part…

Fur….

Sequins…

Happy weekend everyone. Keep it real festive!

Happy Weekend: Hot Cocoa & Cozy

This weekend I’m going to try not to stay out till 2am and remember to balance my water to wine ratio. I plan on celebrating the cooler weather rolling in by pulling out my parkas, breaking out my Sorels and matching up the odds and ends of my hats and gloves.

Tonight I’ll be celebrating one of my sassy friends birthday with a bunch of wonderful dames. Tomorrow a few of us are heading to the Local Santa Clause Parade to sip hot cocoa and people watch- I can’t wait get my cheeks all rosy and cozy up in some brazen winter wear and hit the town!

I’m stepping up my outer wear game..

(this is a great look, cocoa faux fur & party pants)

(Might just keep the pants on … at least until I get home!)

(Insert pants here:I love leg warmers, but seriously this girl needs pants)

Happy Friday everyone, I hope you cozy up and take it outside…

Monday Hair….*

Most mornings I wake up with a messy, not- so- cute – mop on top of my head and wonder ‘what the eff am I going to do with my hair?’ Aggressively hitting snooze for the first hour might be my first problem, however beauty sleep is cardinal so I snooze it out. Thank god for bobby pins and a few of my trusty hair products that tame my tresses and assist with getting my ass heels out the door on time.

I like Monday hair, better known as Saturday evening leftovers.  It’s the lovely barrel curls or silky sleek blow out you took so much time to do on Saturday that gets you right into Monday. Unwashed hair is so much easier to work with when you’re throwing it up or trying to get that messy bun or pony look, the perfect Monday no fuss hair.

Being a ‘hair down’ type a girl I have to be creative and find ways to mix it up and be the opposite of boring. Today I had great Monday hair, I swept my caramel locks off my face, added a little volume and out the door I went!.
When there’s no time to wrap sections around a barrel iron or spend an hour on a sleek blow out give yourself a top knot, pin it back in a messy bun or rock a fun pony, you could be really audacious and throw on a head band….

My top products for the looks above:

1. Re Shaper by Sebastian Professional –  strong-lasting, re-shapable spray.

2. Texture Touch by Wella Professional – Reworkable Clay that you can work your style and re shape. Defines, separates and builds volume.
Start by melting a small amount across your fingertips, then sculpt into dry hair.

3. Simmer Delights by Wella Professional – mist on finished hair for a shiny appearance and enhance your style.
If you think there’s nothing you can do with your hair, it’s all in your head!
And there you have it, Monday Hair….*
Happy first day of five!

Costume DIY’ing and Candy Apple Martini’ing…

Happy Trick or Treat day!

I go crazy for costume and theme parties, so this weekend was a screaming success in the dress up department! I had a billion ideas of what I wanted to be for our Spooky girls night out, first it was a Russian Doll, inspired from OPI’s Russian Collection followed by thoughts of a ‘A Real Housewife’, Rachel Zoe ( not frail enough), Kate Middleton (again not skinny enough) and Ophelia.  Last minute I altered my ideas, that’s the Gemini in me, We were off to a jazz club so I fancied looking more glitter & glam. I rummaged through my tickle trunk of past costumes and old dance outfits and decided with all the bits I would be a modern-day flapper girl. With a quick stop at Forever 21 my DIY costume was a hit.

The night was fabulous, we totally overdosed on Candy Apple Martinis, got in a little cardio set on the dance floor and joked about all the slutty *fill in the blank* costumes we witnessed, what happened to Halloween, much like every other holiday it’s lost its center?

Here’s a peek at my DIY Flapper Fabulous costume…

For me it’s all about the hair and make up. I love bold eyelashes, falsies, smooth Hollywood curls, red red lips and painting pretty things on my face!

How I built my costume:

1. Dress from Forever 21 circa 2010, $19.99

2. Necklace Vintage Costume jewelry from the tickle trunk

3. Headband Forever 21, $6.50 (in stores now)

4. MAC Eyelashes and MAC Ruby Woo Lipstick

5. OPI Nails in ‘Color so Hot it Berns’

6. Fishnet Stocking from my hosiery drawer

Clearly doesn’t take a scientist to figure it out…just a little creativity!

The best kind of costumes are the ones you create on your own.

Happy Halloween!

Tease

Today feels like a fabulous summer day. Last weekend was a total tease that fall weather was here and it had us all reaching for cozy sweaters and boots.  Little Miss Summer isn’t going anywhere for a while folks, so put your chunky knits on hold for the next week or so until we can really strut our fall fashion.

Even with the sweating temps I plan on doing a few fall things this weekend.. like sweeping some OPI’s ‘I Brake for Manicures‘ over my nails, looking through mags for fall hair color inspiration, exchanging my summery bedding for some autumn plum shades, sipping wine on the back deck and maybe doing a little fall shopping? Somebody please escort me to a mall this weekend. I don’t like to shop alone….

Fabulous use of chocolate and plum…

She makes me want to paint my hair deep brown and grow my eyebrows to their virgin state..

This image makes me want to say eff this summer leftover weather..bring on fall!

What fall things are you going to get a head start on this weekend?

Happy Friday sugar plums!
